GPS through Study Abroad: Overview

Travel Track
Opportunities for the Study Abroad Track include credit-bearing programs of eight weeks or more. Eligible Ashland University students of any major can choose to study in over 139 programs in 37 countries. Most program classes are taught in English. Language study is also available.

Global Studies Track
Many summer study abroad programs fulfill the entire Global Studies Track. Ashland University offers unique summer programs in addition to those programs available through consortium partnerships.

Students may also choose to fulfill part of the Global Studies Track by participating in a Faculty-Led Tour (Meets Course with Study Away requirement). Faculty from various departments across Ashland University sponsor short-term international and domestic experiences for students during spring break and during the summer. Length of the program varies.Past Course with Study Away tours have included “Culture and Cuisine of Ireland,” “Europe in Balance: Winston Churchill & WWII,” “African Literature in South Africa,” “Legacy of Peter and Paul in Italy” and many more!The Global Education Office will announce which tours qualify for Course with Study Away each year.

Modern Language Track
The Department of Foreign Languages coordinates a study abroad program for intensive language study specifically designed to provide students with an immersion experience in Santa Ana, Costa Rica. Students can spend four, six or eight weeks in Costa Rica. Students also have the opportunity to complete intensive language programs abroad through consortium partners and exchange programs. Students can study Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Italian and German.
