This tour is open to all majors and is tied to HS380: Arizona Navajo Reservation Cultural Immersion, hybrid course, offered during the Spring 2020 semester. This course plus study tour is only offered on even years. Students will study Native American culture through an assigned text complemented by assigned readings, media, and discussion. The course will conclude with a weeklong immersion at the Navajo Reservation in the four corners region of Arizona. Students will have the opportunity to interact with Navajo people during observations at the Tsehootsooi Medical Center and in the local community. In addition, students will experience the breathtaking beauty of the canyons and red rocks characteristic to this area. The final project will be a CCI Narrative with journal entries prior, during, and after their experience on the reservation and will identify their status/progress on the cultural continuum. This course has been approved to count as a Course with Study Away within the CCI Requirement of the Core Curriculum.
